You spend all year saving for your dream getaway, so make sure you don’t get off to a bad start by forgetting your holiday essentials. Today I’m dedicating this post to the importance of packing correctly and sharing my own beach/pool side essentials. Keep reading to find out more.
As I’m writing this post I’m actually packing for my next trip abroad, I’m going to the South of France for my best friend’s wedding and only taking hand luggage Shock Horror! So I can’t afford to over pack or miss any key items. I’ll be sharing some of my favourite beauty products for lounging by the pool and items I like to take for relaxing on the beach.
The Holiday Handbag
When it comes to holiday handbags this summer, there have been some major trends. Personalised, straw bags, and the big trend the pom poms. One of my favourite bags right now and one that is very affordable is Accessorize ‘Take me to the Beach’ bag priced at £25.00, it an absolute Summer holiday essential during my trips abroad and has enough room to carry all the bits I need during the day/night. Along with the “goals” slogan I love the giant pom poms which add a touch of fun and fabulous.
Skin confidence with OM Skincare
Whilst I’m lounging by the pool I still like to have some coverage on my face. As a blogger I need to be ready for impromptu instagram shots or ready to flirt with the guy at the bar. I love to wear either a BB or CC cream with a high SPF which is very important! On my last trip to Portugal I wore OM skincare Invisible Primer with an SPF of 45, that gave me a light coverage, skin protection and no photo-flashbacks. I’ve also written a full review which you can read here about the amazing scientific skin benefits and the emotional well-being of OM skincare.
I hope who ever reads this post knows how important it is to keep your skin protected whilst sunbathing or in a sunny hot climate. Even on a cloudy day in London I wear sun protection to protect myself from harmful sun rays. One of my tricks to getting a golden glow the safe way is to wear a high SPF sun lotion then apply a oil with extra SPF on top. I don’t recommend this for everyone especially if your prone to getting sun burnt. I picked up the Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection and Sun Oil at the airport in mini size and the two bottles lasted me the whole week. The mini sizes are very handy to pop in your bag and top up on the go.
Refreshing Face Mists
The Jurlique face mists are a staple in any handbag of mine, whether I’m on the London underground or by the pool. I like to keep myself feeling refreshed at all times and the Jurlique Aromatherapy mist is one of my favourites to keeping my skin hydrated and balancing my mood. The Jurlique Aromatherapy Mists contain a blend of specially selected Pure Essential Oils to transform your mood, read my introduction to Jurlique here.
Lips are just as important to keep protected and hydrated whilst in the sun, no one wants dry and cracked lips on holiday. Even though the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine isn’t the conventional choice of lip balm, it does include six essentials oils to nourish your lips. The one I took on holiday is colour shade 42 and it’s a clear shimmer lipstick/balm to give you an extra highlight. I always use the sun protection I’m using for my face and add a little on my lips as a base then apply the YSL Rouge over the top. You can read more of some of my YSL beauty favourites here.
This may be an obvious one but most people do forget to pack their favourite sunglasses. On holiday I always bring two pairs of sunglasses, one to wear by the pool and slay! And another cheap pair to wear while i’m on the beach. A good pair of sunglasses no matter how much they cost are a key essential for your holiday handbag. The ones shown above are my Celine sunglasses that are so sassy and perfect for pictures by the pool.
A Good Read
When I’m by the sea and laying on the beach I like to switch off from social media and read a good book. I choose not to sign up to the beach club’s wifi, instead I relax and listen to the ocean while getting lost in a gripping tale. I’m currently reading ‘Luckiest Girl Alive’ by Jessica Knoll and without giving too much away, it’s about a girl who has bounced back after public humiliation and other downfalls that’s happened in her life. It’s a great tale of over coming hard obstacles in life and being a better person for it.
So like I mentioned before I’m going away very soon to the South of France and would love to know some of your holiday handbag essentials. Let me know by leaving a comment down below.
