I absolutely love a bold red lip!
Deep, romantic shades of red not only look amazing in photos but they can also instantly give your teeth a whiter look. #Winning
As much as I love bold lip colours, they’re not the easiest to apply like the nude shades. So I have put together a few tips and tricks to applying bold lip colours and to keep them looking perfectly in place. I’m using the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick for this mini-tutorial.
First step: is to exfoliate and there’s many ways to do this. If like me and suffering from
dry lips, I like to give my lips a mini exfoliating session every morning with just my tooth brush and then apply a lip balm. I recommend using the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Nourishing lip balm, this also has the added benefit of an SPF 20. If you fancy a home remedy you can mix in sugar into any lip balm or honey and scrub.
Make sure your lips are completely dry when you start applying your lip colour!
Second step: line your lips. This is a crucial step in any bold lip look as this will prolong the longevity of your lip colour, whilst making sure everything stays in place. It also defines the shape of your lips. After lining the edge of your lips, fill them in a little bit.
Third step: fill ’em in! Apply your favourite lip colour, I love using the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick. I’m using colour shade Power Red. Who doesn’t love a classic red lip.
Top Tip: You really want to make sure that no lipstick is on the inner part of your mouth because it’s bound to end up on your teeth. The simple way to avoid lipstick teeth is to pop your finger in your mouth, then slide it out. All the excess lip colour will be on your finger and off of your teeth.
And finish off with a smile!
The Elizabeth Arden lipstick is so pigmented and creamy, you don’t have to apply much to get a high coverage of colour. I love that my lips are left with a semi-matte finish yet moisturised and stay hydrated throughout the day. The gentle smooth formula is packed full of vitamins and shea butter. Perfect for Valentines day as you won’t get that sticky feeling on your lips.
Would love to see your Valentine’s Day make-up looks, tweet me your selfies 🙂
