One of the things I love to do when I have some free time is to explore this fabulous city I get to call home. Keep reading to find out more about Hixter, a swanky venue south of the river.
I rarely venture south of the river and to be honest there is no real reason why not, along the Bankside of London there are so many drink delights and food hot spots to visit. So I decided to grab a friend on a Friday night and join in for a cocktail masterclass hosted at Hixter .
You don’t need to be a cocktail connoisseur to enjoy this masterclass just an enthusiasm of cocktail flavours and how they are made. Upon our arrival downstairs into Mark’s bar we were greeted with Hixter’s most iconic cocktail the Hix Fix, these were so delicious and just wanted I needed at the end of a working week. Whilst sipping on our Hix Fix cocktail we were then given an introduction into the history of HIX restaurants and it’s founder Mark Hix, it was such a huge inspiration hearing all his achievements, innovative ideas in the industry and how Mark likes to use British ingredients.
Dorset Donkey Cocktail
This had to be my favourite cocktail, not only because I made it but for the fresh yet smooth taste I get from the Black Cow vodka and sweetness from the morello cherries. This drink pushes me out of my comfort zone when it comes to cocktail, I usually never opt for vodka but the Black Cow compliments all the flavours nicely.
Black Cow Vodka
After building our own Dorset Donkey cocktail, we then tucked into a great spread of their threesome bar snacks and learned all about the creation of Black Cow vodka. The Black Cow is a vodka I have never tasted before, it has a smooth unique creamy flavour and if you are not a vodka drinker you must try this for yourself. Originating from England’s West Dorset coast they produce only Pure Milk Vodka made entirely from the milk of grass grazed cows and nothing else. Even though this is a premium vodka the price point is very reasonable and can be purchased from your local Sainsbury’s and Waitrose along with other retailers.
If you are interested in enjoying this cocktail masterclass they are being held in Mark’s Bar at Hixter and are available Monday – Saturday, from 12 – 8pm (with the last booking being at 6:30pm). Each class can accommodate from 6 – 12 guests. This is priced at £45 per person and includes a goody bag for each guest. You can also check on the Visit Bankside website to see all that’s happening this winter.
Please let me know if you visit Hixter and tell me what is your favourite cocktail in the comments below.
Thanks for reading darlings.
