2016 is fast approaching and in the New Year I always like to give my wardrobe a big clear out. It’s good for the soul!
Keep reading to find out what my fashion New Year resolutions are.
So I’ve set myself 5 fashion wardrobe resolutions for the New Year.
Fashion Resolution #1 Quality over Quantity
I know this is the most overused statement of the century but we are all victims of chasing bargains! But in 2016 I am making it my mission to invest in key fashion pieces that will last. I really can’t describe the feeling I get when I go into Primark, when I see the seasons must have items at a fraction of the normal retail price just gets my heart racing. And even though I’m not telling you to ban stepping into Primark again, (which no woman myself included could EVER make that kind of sacrifice) I’m learning to seek out chic items that are worth my extra dollar 😉
What I hope to invest in 2016, black skinny jeans, shoes & handbag!
Victoria Beckham Denim skinny jeans Valentino ‘Rockstud’ pumps Saint Laurent small Monogram tote
So ladies in 2016 splurge on one fabulous wear-it-forever piece.
Fashion Resolution #2 Accessorize, Accessorize ……& Accessorize
In 2016 I challenge myself to go to accessories first, making them the centre piece for my outfits. The truth is sometimes we pass up on amazing accessories because we’re too focused on playing by the rules. You might be surprised at how many ways you can style an outfit simply by choosing different accessories. Whether it’s a faux fur gilet, a statement necklace or exaggerated cat-eye sunglasses. It can take your easy day time outfit to holiday party ready. Here are some picks from my Farfetch wishlist that can spice up your wardrobe life.
Sergio Rossi chunky heel ankle boots CHLOÉ Faye crossbody bag Burberry London House check scarf Maison Michel Kate hat
Sergio Rossi chunky heel ankle boots RAG & BONE double breasted vest JIMMY CHOO Candy clutch LANVIN amour pendant necklace ALEXANDER MCQUEEN skull detail bangle
Who said you can’t go accessories first when styling an outfit..?
Fashion Resolution #3 Be a risk taker
Fashion is meant to be fun! We all have a comfort zone and tend to stay within those boundaries while shopping. If your a kind a gal who typically buys all black, try to look for pieces with more colour. If you like that bright pink coat buy it! I guarantee other people will think your a forward thinking fashionista. I know this is again easier said then done, but I’m still haunted by the things I didn’t buy because I cared too much of what people would think. There’s no better time than a New Year to break free and try out that new trend you’ve been eyeing.
Elizabeth and James feather trim blazer Jimmy Choo Candy Winking Eye clutch Sophia Webster ‘Parisa’ sandals Moschino sequined mini dress
Play with textures & show a little skin.
Fashion Resolution #4 Shop online more
Yes, it’s nice to waltz into a store, find something that fits and walk out happy. But we are missing out on great fashion pieces and online deals that we wont find on the high-street. Although I’m not saying to completely abandon the high-street, I’m advising to open your hearts a little to what the online boutique and retailer have to offer that you can’t get anywhere else. That’s the beauty of the internet! With many online stores offering free returns if something doesn’t fit, it makes taking those fashion risks even easier as you can try them in the comfort of your home. That’s one of the reasons I love Farfetch they have 300 boutiques all under one roof, which makes finding those great stylish items to add to your wardrobe even easier.
“Online shopping, because it’s frowned upon to be in a store with no bra on, sweatpants and a glass of wine.”
Fashion Resolution #5 Wear clothes that make you feel confident
This year is all about becoming your best self. How you feel in your clothes extends to how you carry yourself each day. Wear what makes you feel your best and you’ll exude confidence and poise. Wearing clothes that make you happy can make you more positive, energetic, and confident! Key things to remember when shopping for outfits, cater it to your body type, your hair & eye colour and your skin tone. Think of it as a fashion trend tailored specifically for you.
Being confident, something we should all aim to do in 2016!
